The small, privately owned business of Vision Works Optometry was started in Modesto in 1984 by George Patton, O.D. However, around the same time, another entity across the country also started a business called Visionworks. As that company grew and has now become a large national chain-type optical store, we at the Vision Works Optometry in Modesto CA have found ourselves in a situation where the time has come to change our name.
Dr. Bray Ortega sees this as a positive change for the future of what is now Vision First Optometry. "My commitment to our Valley, my high standards of patient care and my belief in the benefits of small business for the customer, the employee, and our community are all unchanged," states Dr. Bray Ortega, "in fact I welcome this opportunity to distinguish myself from a large chain store owned by an even larger corporation.
